Charles Owen Harvey, Sr.

Charles Owen Harvey, Sr. (Charlie) passed away into the more immediate presence of his Savior on January 26, 2011. He was born on September 6, 1926 to Margaret Ross Harvey and Fred Thomas Harvey. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 54 years, Lois Grant Harvey; and one brother, William T. Harvey. He is survived by three children: Terri Cheek, Jeff Harvey and wife Renee, and Charles Harvey, Jr. (Chuck) and wife Nancy. He has four grandchildren: Brandon Fishel (Leann), Jason Harvey (Angela), Daniel Harvey and Michelle Harvey (his Doodle). He also has one great grandchild, Blake Fishel, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by three brothers: Jake Harvey of Graham, Fred Harvey (Doris) of Longwood FL., and Carl Harvey (Sara) of Pulaski, VA. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Charlie was an avid golfer as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and achieved their highest honor of Pilgrim degree. He worked for many years for Harrison and Wright, Ramey Construction and Shutt Hartman Construction. He faithfully attended Trinity Moravian Church and enjoyed the Senior Friends get togethers. He was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be conducted at Trinity Moravian Church on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend John Jackman and the Reverend Bill McElveen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to acknowledge the staff in ICU2 at Forsyth Medical Center, especially Liz Foster and Mittie who will always be remembered by our family. We would also like to thank Dr. Chuck Harris, Dr. Graham and their staff. The Palliative Care unit at Forsyth Medical Center deserves more thanks than we can express. Their compassion and care the last few days were such a blessing.
