Guffey Mr. Charles Mitchell Guffey of Winston-Salem peacefully went home on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Rutherford County to the late Horace and Ruby Early Guffey. Preceding Mr. Guffey in death are two sisters and two brothers; Ethel Jolley, Myrtise Goode, Bill and Dan Guffey. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan Nodine Guffey; four daughters, Brenda Pritchard of Pepperell, MA, Susan Hargett and husband Wayne of Union Mills, NC, Kelly Sloan and husband Norman of Hampstead, NC, Gina Smith of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren, Patrick Pritchard, Jennifer Nichols, Jeff Hargett, Jason Hargett, Brittany Elliott, Blaze Tanner, Adrian Boular; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Frances Koone and husband Clyde of Shelby, NC; a brother-in-law, James Nodine and wife Brenda of Waynesboro, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was an avid golfer and loved to go to Cherokee. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm., Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Military Rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. He will be remembered for his love and laughter that he shared with family and friends.
