Charles Bahnson Dunn, Jr.

Mr. Charles Bahnson Dunn, Jr., 74, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born November 19, 1934 in Surry County to the late Charles Bahnson Dunn, Sr. and Lela Vaughan Dunn. He attended Harvest Baptist Church and retired from American National Can Co. Mr. Dunn enjoyed classic cars and attending cruise-in shows. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Dunn was always known for spending more time helping other people than caring for himself. Surviving are his wife Arlene Eads Dunn; daughter, Yvonne Poole (Don); son, Charles B. Dunn III (Deborah); five grandchildren, Chad Nelson, Jeremy Nelson (Heather), Tara N. Leonard (Seth), Charles Dunn IV, and Megan Dunn; three sisters, Mabel Williams, Ruth Harvel, and Frances Blume; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and a few close friends who should have been family. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Clayton Tilley and Dr. Virgil T. Chitty officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of Ardmore 9th floor and to the Palliative Care Unit at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for the care they provided to Mr. Dunn.
