Charles Edward Coone

Mr. Charles Edward Coone, age 81 passed away peacefully Friday, November 21, 2014 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Charles was born in Forsyth County, August 7, 1933 to Marvin Coone, Sr. and Frances McCollum Coone. He was a life-long member of Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where he was a member of the choir and served proudly as a deacon until the decline of his health. Mr. Coone graduated from Hanes High School, was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Wachovia Bank and Trust in 1993 as vice-president of General Services. In addition to his parents Mr. Coone was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald E. Coone.

Mr. Coone is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia McKnight Coone of the home, two sons; B.E. (Cindy) Coone of Mt. Airy and Chuck (Sandra) Coone of Winston-Salem, three grandchildren, Sabrina (Kenny) Godfrey, Meredith (Chris) Lamm and Zachary (Jessica) Coone, five great-grandchildren with number six due in January 2015. He is also survived by one brother, Marvin (Bobbie) Coone, Jr. of Winston-Salem and sister-in-law, Pam Coone of Lewisville, several nieces and nephews, and a very close family friend, Ruby Webster.

Funeral service for Mr. Coone will be conducted Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Dr. Brad Stamey and Rev. Brian Alverson. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at the church Monday November 24th from 12:30 P.M. until time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to, Bethany Baptist Church for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. This offering was very special to Mr. Coone.
