Charles "Chuck" Tyler Grimes

Charles Tyler Grimes, 58, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born on January 11, 1967, to the late Clarence Coolidge Grimes and Fannie Tyler Grimes in Washington, DC. Chuck was unapologetically talkative and found connections with strangers wherever he went. He was a graduate of High Point University, class of 2006, and was a proud alumnus. In the beginning stages of his career, Chuck was an A&P Mechanic at Cessna Aircraft Company and worked his way up to the role of aviation inspector. For a time, he was a professor at GTCC where he taught his trade and strived to motivate and encourage students to climb the ranks just as he did. He was an immense football fan and was proud of his induction into the TC Williams Titans football hall-of-fame for his gameplay in high school. Chuck was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rooted for them even when they were losing. Most of all, he was a family man. He took so much pride in his two daughters and served as their biggest cheerleader through all their sporting and educational endeavors. His most cherished moments are spending time with his daughters, and the love of his life, Michelle.

Left to cherish Chuck’s memory are his wife, Andrea Michelle Grimes; two daughters, Maya Camille Grimes, and Charlise Tyler Grimes; three siblings, Dana Grimes (and wife, Doris), Fananda Billingslea-Grimes (and husband, Jeff), and Clarence Grimes Jr; as well as nieces and nephews, Atiba Grimes, Rashanda Grimes, Patrice Grimes, Daneé Pulley-Grimes, Jeffrey Billingslea, and Kyle Billingslea.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Evangelist Debbie Benton officiating. A visitation will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Inc. at 200 S Marshall Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
