Mr. Charles “Chuck” Roger Fishel, 60, of Clemmons, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Chuck was born on October 15, 1964, the oldest of three children to Mr. Roger S. Fishel and Mrs. Patricia S. Fishel. A man of strong faith, Chuck was a devoted Christian and longtime member of Charity Baptist Church in Lexington, where he found great joy in worship and in the love of his church family.
Chuck was a simple man of few words, but his smile could light up a room. He brought joy to everyone, and everyone was blessed to know him. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering enthusiasm for the things he loved made him truly unforgettable. Chuck was embraced by a community of people who truly saw and celebrated him. The love, acceptance and unwavering support he received from friends, family and his church meant the world to him — and to those who loved him most.
A lifelong racing fan, Chuck had a deep love for NASCAR and the races at Bowman Gray Stadium “The Madhouse.” He began attending races there when he was just three years old and rarely missed a race over the past 57 years. He never missed an opening night race and always sat in section 20.
Chuck loved listening to Gospel and Bluegrass music and especially loved the sound of a banjo. Music lifted his spirit, and it wasn’t uncommon to see him tapping his foot and singing along to a good tune.
One of the greatest honors of Chuck’s life was being welcomed into Griffith Volunteer Fire Department where he attended faithfully and was an honorary fireman for over 40 years. He loved and knew everything about firetrucks, enjoyed watching fire trainings, loved riding in the firetruck, and attending meetings with his fire family. In recognition of his dedication, Chuck was proudly voted Fireman of the Year—an honor he cherished.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Roger S. Fishel. He is survived by his loving mother and best friend, Pat Fishel; his brother and race watching buddy, Chris Fishel (Annette); his sister, Cheryl Bowman (Steve); five nieces, Ashley Christensen (Kenny), Lauren Bowman, Kendall Bowman, Elizabeth Fishel, and Katelyn Fishel; and two great-nieces, Wiley and Finley Christensen.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Charity Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor Brady Lowery and Pastor Jon White officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Chuck loved flowers, but donations in his memory may also be made to Charity Baptist Church, 1912 N NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is honored to serve the Fishel family.
