Mr. Charles Raymond Carter Sr., age 82, died Thursday October 1, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 6, 1927 in Ripley, W. VA. to the late Russell C. Carter and Agatha Ransom Carter. Mr. Carter was a retired dairy manager at A & P Grocery and a retired maintenance tech at Wilson-Covington Construction. He loved gardening in his back yard and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Temple. Surviving is his wife of 49 years Delores Joyce Carter of Winston-Salem; two sisters Clara Carter Cook of Omaha, Arkansas, and Barbara Pennington and Husband McRay of Ghent, W. VA; three sons, James Russell Carter and Yvonne A. Carter of Clermont, Florida, Charles Raymond Carter Jr. of Winston-Salem, and Gregory Jon Carter of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Christopher James and Matthew Robert Carter of Clermont, Florida, and Matthew Chase Carter of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:15 PM Tuesday October 6, 2009 at Grace Baptist Temple (3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127). A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Grace Baptist Temple with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
