Charles William Buck" Bowman Jr.

TOBACCOVILLE - Mr. Charles William ""Buck"" Bowman, Jr. passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his home. He was born August 31, 1920 in Forsyth County to the late Charles Sr. and Amanda Shouse Bowman. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and retired from McClean Trucking Company with 26 years of service. God told Charles as a small boy to build Him a House; so March 15, 1963 Charles and his wife, Annie Bell started True Gospel Holiness Church with 4 quarters that they earned selling milk and butter. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by an infant son, a son, David W. Bowman, two sisters, Naomi Dickens and Jaunita Snow and two brothers, Lewis Bowman and Buddy Bowman. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Rev. Annie Bell Bowman; son, Joseph E. Bowman (Linda); daughter, Mary B. Riggs (Ren); six grandchildren, Joseph E. Bowman, Jr. (Wendy), Joshua K. Bowman, Daniel L. Riggs, Evan W. Riggs, Chris Farris and Jennifer Coleman (Gary), four great-grandchildren, Siera, Ashley, Timothy and Makayla. Also surviving are two sisters, Elsie Bean and Edith Pauline Childress; and best-friend, Fred Boyles. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 22 at True Gospel Holiness Church with Rev. Toni Hartley and Rev. Wesley Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Grove Church of the Living God in Kernersville with Rev. John Stevens and Rev. Tim Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 21 at the church.
