BENNETT KING - Charles Michael Bennett , 62, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on July 12, 1948 in San Francisco, CA to Charles J. Bennett and Evelyn B. Bennett. Mr. Bennett attended the University of Arkansas from 1966 to 1969. After graduating, Mr. Bennett followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the Air Force and served at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO and Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. He also married in 1969 and started a family. Mr. Bennett was a loving and caring father and grandfather. He always had a smile and was always willing to help anyone. His smile and laugh will always be remembered by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his twin boys, Anthony S. Bennett and Michael A. Bennett in 1976 and his father, Charles J. Bennett in 1988. Surviving are his two daughters, Alethea B. Robinson (Roger) of King, NC and Carisa B. Wood (Zachary) of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Layne, Emily, Luke and Dakota Robinson and Lathan, Kenna, and Mathias Wood; his mother, Evelyn B. Bennett of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters, Deirdre Milani of Klamath Falls, OR and Marcia Whittaker of Fountain, CO. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel, 305 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC with the Rev. Mr. David Boissey. Burial will follow at King Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
