Charles Howard Atkins

WINSTON SALEM-Charles Howard Atkins, 86 passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 15, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Jesse Burl and Treva Harrison Atkins. Charles was a member of Glenn View Baptist Church, the Best Years Club and served as a Deacon for many years. He founded A&C Metal Products, Inc. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Michael; brothers, Ralph and Bobby Atkins; and a sister, Mary Lou Weavil. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Esther T. Atkins of the home; a son Ron L. Atkins and wife, Carol of Wilmington; a daughter, Lynne Machie of Winston Salem; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; brother, George Atkins; three sisters, Carolyn Lawson, Janice Stuart and Barbara Warren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Glenn View Baptist Church with the Dr. Brad Wright and Rev. Johnny Gupton officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Glenn View Baptist Church Senior Adult Fund in Honor of the Best Years Club, 4275 Glenn High Road, Winston- Salem, NC 27107.
