Charlene Sink Krupski Strickland

Mrs. Charlene Sink Krupski Strickland, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2010 at Salemtowne Retirement Community. She was born in Forsyth County to the late Felix Ray Sink and Treva Livengood Sink. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eddye Fritz, a brother, Brooks Sink, her first husband, Lt. Col. Charles Krupski, and her second husband, Marshall Strickland. Mrs. Strickland was a lifelong member of Hebron United Church of Christ. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1938 and took college prep classes at Reynolds High School before attending Appalachian State University and Duke School of Nursing. She was employed in the medical field most of her working years and enjoyed a second career in real estate sales. Her pastime passions included playing golf, piano, bridge, and shopping at Talbots. Mrs. Strickland is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Krupski Carlson and husband Kurt, and a granddaughter, Meredith Carlson, all of Rockford, Illinois; she is also survived by two step-daughters, one step-son, and five nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, November 1, 2010 at Hebron United Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hebron United Church of Christ, Memorial Fund, 129 Hebron Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107. The family would like to especially extend appreciation and thanks to the caring and loving staff at Salemtowne.
