Chad Everette Nifong, 39, of Oak Island passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Duke Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1970 in Forsyth County to George Wilson and Lynn Eddinger Nifong. Chad was employed with the Town of Oak Island, but started working in 1997 with the Town of Yupon Beach before it merged with Oak Island. Surviving are his parents; one stepson, Sean Loftis; two brothers, Greg (Peggy) and Grant Nifong; one sister, Angie Jenkins (Sam); four nephews, Dakota and Paton Jenkins, Laramie and Elliott Nifong; two nieces, Carson Jenkins and Lexie Nifong; two uncles, Mickey and Van Eddinger (Deanna); many cousins, great aunts and great uncles; and many many friends. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Dalton Jenkins. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 at Griffith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A memorial service will also be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10 at First Baptist Church on Oak Island Drive.
