Cecil Reid Smith

Mr. Cecil ""Reid"" Smith, age 57, a very devoted Christian, husband, dad and Papa went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 10, 2010. Reid was born January 1, 1953 in Forsyth County to the late James Edward Leroy and Geraldine Landreth Smith. He was a faithful member of Jefferson Church of Christ in Rural Hall for 29 years, sang with the Solid Rock Gospel Quartet for 16 years, enjoyed playing golf, was an avid sports fan and was always eager to learn something new. Reid adored his two grandchildren and never met a stranger. Reid was preceded in death by his father and one sister; Marian Kay Southern. Surviving are his wife of six years of marriage; Kim Smith of the home. One son Jeremiah Reid (Dawn) Smith of St Louis, Missouri. Two grandchildren; Mackenzie and Connor Reid Smith. Two step-children; Trey Hiatt of Winston-Salem and Nikki Hiatt of the home. His mother; Geraldine Smith of Winston-Salem. Two Sisters; Carol McGee and Ruth (Arnold) Booth both of Rural Hall. One brother; James E. (Tommie) Smith of Boonville. His mother and father-in-law two brothers-in-law and their wives, and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday evening, April 13, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. at the Jefferson Church of Christ Family Life Center by Jerry Simpkins, Minister and Steve Cook, Minister. Military burial rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Western Carolina Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 545 N. Trade Street, Suite 3 J, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or to the American Heart Association, 202 CentrePort Drive, Suite 100, Greensboro, NC 27409.
