Cecil Haywood Blackmon

Mr. Cecil Haywood Blackmon, 81, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Bradford Village West. He was born September 4, 1927 in Durham County, NC to the late John Ollie and Elsie Harden Blackmon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smith Blackmon; a son, Cecil Haywood ""Pug"" Blackmon, Jr.; and a daughter, Vicki Lynn Hall. Surviving are two sons, Tommy Blackmon and Brian Blackmon; two daughters, Lucy (Dwight) Gordy and Teresa Burgenn; a step-son, C.C. Walker; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert and Buddy Blackmon. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Gordy officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
