Catherine Walker Westmoreland

Mrs. Catherine Walker Westmoreland, 93, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. She was born May 22, 1919 in Forsyth County to the late Rober and Mabel Walker. She was a member of Providence Moravian Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Westmoreland; son, Al Westmoreland; three brothers, Ed, Emmett, and Virgil Walker; and one sister, Jessie Westmoreland. She is survived by one daughter, Betty W. Darr (Jack); four grandchildren, Anne Colbert (Darren) of Winston-Salem, David Darr (Amy) of Raleigh, Ed (Donna) and Trent (Angie) Westmoreland of Wilmington; six great grandchildren, Taylor Colbert of Winston-Salem, Dawson Darr of Raleigh, Nathaniel (Beth), Abby, Sydney, and Cara Westmoreland, all of Wilmington; one daughter-in-law, Marie Westmoreland of Wilmington; two brothers, Gerald (Frances) and Glenn Walker; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating. A graveside service will follow at Providence Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
