Catherine E. Roster Watson

Catherine (Kate) E. Roster Watson, 97, of Winston-Salem, died February 25, 2013. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ and moved to Winston-Salem in 1948 after brief periods in Atlanta and Miami. Mrs. Watson worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for thirty-four years and continued to be actively involved in the Sears Retiree Association. She is survived by her dearly loved grandchildren, Kathy Craven and husband Jeff, Joe Martin, Vickie Priddy and husband Chris, and Patti Martin; three great grandsons, Christopher Craven, Michael Craven, and Tyler Priddy; her brother, Anthony Roster of Brielle, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Mary Roster; a daughter, Joan Martin; five brothers and three sisters. Kate, affectionately known as ""Othermama"" to her family, will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a loyal friend to all who knew her. She was a true ""lady"" whose spirit will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her. A graveside service will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park on Thursday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
