Catherine Hicks Wilson Loflin

Catherine Hicks Wilson Loflin, 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Brookridge Retirement Community. She was born in Stokes County on December 16, 1930 to Raleigh Stancel and Rachel Smith Hicks. Catherine was of the Pentecostal faith and was very strong in her beliefs. She loved her family and enjoyed music. Catherine was a very strong and tough lady. She worked for Adams Millis and for the Kernersville News. She loved gardening and could make anything grow and bloom. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Wilson; three children, Jimmy Wilson, Sr., Linda Wilson Dockery, and Janice Wilson Bowen; one grandson, Tony Tilley; five brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by three children, Rebecca ""Jackie"" Wilson Vaughn, Janet Wilson Cardwell, and Hope Wilson Wright; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, especially Abby Vaughn who has been involved in her great grandmother's ongoing care for the last few years; two brothers, Raleigh and Donald Hicks; and a special friend, Gwen Herndon who has been a constant and faithful friend to Catherine for years. A funeral service for Catherine will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Garland Glascoe officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
