Casper Gatewood

Mr. Leo Gatewood, 93, passed away Saturday July 10, 2021, at his home. He was born September 13, 1927, in Stokes County to the late Charlie Ralph Gatewood and Mettie Louella Carroll Gatewood He was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Leo proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Gatewood retired from Hanes Dye and Finish after 32 years.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Gatewood is preceded in death by a son, Donald Leo Gatewood; sister, Fayrene Gatewood; and brother, Dudley Gatewood.  He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Gatewood; daughter, Diane Nations (Eddie); two grandchildren, Jessica Gatewood (special friend Clay Young) and Rochelle Tuttle (Jeff); six great-grandchildren, Hailey Pegram, Alex Pegram, Aidan Pegram, Hunter Pegram, Cole Tuttle, and Eric Tuttle; sister, Mary Etta Moser; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gatewood; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday July 13, 2021, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday July 13, 2021, at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church, 5413 NC Hwy 66 South, King, NC 27021.
