Carroll Arthur Sawyer, Sr.

Mr. Carroll Arthur Sawyer, Sr., 78, of Sherrills Ford passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Sherrills Ford Hospice House. Mr. Sawyer was born in Henderson County on April 9, 1936 to R.G. and Gladys Sawyer. He retired from Duke Power and was a member of the Roan Creek Masonic Lodge #679, just recently receiving his 50th year pin for his Masonic membership. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Keith Max Sawyer, Cordell Sawyer, and Harold Sawyer. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Hildred McKinney Sawyer; seven children, Carroll Sawyer, Jr. and his wife Dana, Vickie Sawyer Martin, Timmy Sawyer, Tommy Sawyer and his wife Rhonda, Keith Sawyer, Scott Sawyer and his wife Stephanie; and Lynn Sawyer and his fiancée, Jennifer Secrist; his brother Odell Sawyer and his wife Kat; a sister, Betty Bradford and her husband Carlos; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, NC with the Rev. Charles Worley officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and also the staff at the Sherrills Ford Hospice House in Sherrills Ford, NC for their loving care of Carroll.
