Carrie Willena Martin Whitaker, 84, of Kernersville, NC, a precious daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into her heavenly home on July 28, 2021. She was born May 23, 1937, in Jonesville, NC, to William Thomas Martin and Eva Lee Macemore Martin. Carrie was married to her husband, Harold, for 63 years and was the mother of three children, Theresa, Darin, and Brian. Carrie had many passions in life including singing with her family and church, ministering at rest homes, spending time with her family, and reading the Word of God. She was attending North Pointe Pentecostal Holiness Church and her most outstanding trait was her dedication and love for the Lord. Heaven has gained a precious angel, as she will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Martin; mother, Eva Lee Macemore Martin; and sisters, Geneva Martin, Ruby McBride and Eloise Benfield.
Those surviving include her husband, Harold Whitaker; children, Theresa Pruitt (Neal), Darin Whitaker, and Brian Whitaker (Melody); grandchildren, Bradley Pruitt (Sara), Martin Pruitt, Brittany Whitaker, Rachael Whitaker, Sarah Whitaker, Alana Whitaker, Hannah Whitaker, and Katelyn Whitaker; great-grandson, Lee Pruitt; brother, Garland Martin (Betty); and sister, Betty Sue Mabe (George).
Carrie was very excited and looking forward to meeting her two new great-grandchildren on the way.
A funeral service will be held at Redland Church, IPHC at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 2, 2021, with Rev. Darrell Greene, Rev. Brian K. Whitaker and Rev. Becky Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
