Mrs. Carrie Sue Smith, 75, of Advance passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born December 14, 1933 in Davie County to James Douglas and Rosa King Ellis. Mrs. Smith was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church. She retired from AT&T with 33 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ed and David Ellis. Surviving is her husband, Stanley ""Buster"" Smith; four children, George Markland Smith, Michael Ray Smith, Donna Smith McCraw and Dianna Smith Stephens and her husband John; six grandchildren, Cody and Courtney Stephens, Michelle, Johnny and MarLee Smith and Brooke McCraw; three sisters, Mildred White, Ella Mae Linville and Margaret Beauchamp and two brothers, Charlie and Clinton Ellis. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Wood and Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
