Carolyn Jean Spear Saxon

SAXON Mrs. Carolyn Jean Spear Saxon, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born April 26, 1937 in Forsyth County to Thomas G. and Mary East Spear. Mrs. Saxon was a devoted mother, sister and friend. She loved to work with flowers and loved listening to her son's music. Her favorite season was Christmas because she loved to give. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Saxon; a son, David Spear; a sister, Rose McClamrock; and a brother, Bobby W. Spear. Surviving are one son, Dennis Spear and Linda Gantt who is a special friend to Dennis and Carolyn; three step children; two grandchildren, Brooke Phillips (Eric) and Casey Spear (Nakiya); five great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Riggs of Kernersville; and two brothers, Thomas G. Spear (Norma) of King and Hubert N. Spear of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Van Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
