Carolyn Nifong Motsinger

Mrs. Mary Carolyn Nifong Motsinger, 87, of the Midway Community, passed away Monday, March 2, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 29, 1921 in Davidson County to Clyde L. and Esther Smith Nifong. Mrs. Motsinger was a lifelong member of Midway United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Midway High School and from High Point College in 1942. She was a retired schoolteacher, teaching at Midway School from 1942 to 1952, and at North Davidson High School from 1953 to 1977. She served on the Board of Trustees, Davidson County Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Motsinger, Jr.; one brother, George A. Nifong and a sister, Louise N. Motsinger. Surviving are two double nephews, Smitty Motsinger (wife Cathy) and Neal N. Motsinger (wife Gail) all of Midway; three great nieces, Hannah Louise Motsinger, Megan Alyce Motsinger and Emma Grace Motsinger; one brother-in-law, Francis C. Motsinger; five sisters-in-law, Rachel Nifong, Elizabeth Long, Helen Shoaf, Elsie Motsinger and Dorothene Oakley and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am today, March 6, 2009 at Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. John C. Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Midway United Methodist Church Choir Fund, 9795 Old Hwy. 52 South, Lexington, NC 27295.
