WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Carolyn Adams Griffin, 67, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at her home. Carolyn was born on February 15, 1947 in Forsyth County to Jesse Bernard Adams, Sr. and wife, Edna Boger. Carolyn worked for Hanes Hosiery for many years before working with her husband, Don, at their family-owned business, Forsyth Appliance Service. She worked for the Board of Christian Education of the Moravian Church and also worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Gibson Elementary.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Jesse B. Adams, Sr.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Rev. Donald Griffin; two daughters, Kristy Sapp (Joel) of Clemmons and Tammy Shimfessel (Keith) of Kernersville; one son, Jeffrey Griffin (Amanda) of Lewisville; her mother, Edna Teague; six grandchildren, Ian, Kyle, Owen, Morgan, Kerry and Carly; one brother, Jesse B. Adams, Jr. (Jane) of Winston-Salem; one sister, Robin Crane (Adam) of Wilkesboro; and a number of other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Union Cross Moravian Church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, at God's Acre - Salem Moravian Graveyard with Rev. Scott Venable officiating. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Fairview Moravian Church in Winston-Salem with Bishop Sam Gray officiating. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Griffin family.
Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Winston-Salem for their care.
