Mrs. Carolyn Jane Kimel Black, age 81 passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Black was born in Canton County, OH October 12, 1935 to Norman Shirley Kimel and Cora Bodsford Kimel. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem and retired from Food Lion with 20 plus years of service. In addition to her parents Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Black. Two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Black is survived by two daughters; Vonita (Chris) Cook of Rural Hall and Wendy Bowers of King. Three grandchildren; Russell Rauhauser, April (Thomas) Willard and Faith Cook. Two great-grandchildren; Sophia and Sage Willard. One sister, Doris Laughman of Greensboro. One sister-in-law, Billie Kimel of Winston-Salem. Several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Rev. John Holmes. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1130 Jonestown Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
