Carole Harrington Moore

Carole Harrington Moore, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022.  Carole was born on May 29, 1940, to Ellis and Inez Harrington in Macon, GA.  She had two younger brothers, Jack and Bill.  She graduated from Fortier High School in New Orleans in 1958, then went on to attend LSU for 2 years and transferred to Florida State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in English.  It was there, in the University Choir, that she met the love of her life, George Reid Moore.  They were married October 27, 1962 and were “choir mates” for life.  Carole was a devoted wife, mother to three sons, and grandmother to twelve grandchildren.  After years of being a military spouse, she and George retired in Columbia, SC, then settled in Lewisville, NC in 2011 and enjoyed membership at Ardmore Baptist Church.  She was faithful to serve in various roles, including the bereavement committee, their Sunday School class, and the choir. Carole was known for her love of cooking, hospitality, music, travel and spending time with her family and friends.  She was gracious and had a contagious smile that she shared with everyone.  Carole is survived by her husband, George; sons, David (Susan), Scott (Mary), and Jeff; grandchildren, Daniel (Victoria), Zac (Rachael), Elise (Jon), Eli (Avery), Jonah (April), Rebecca, Johanna, Lauren, Renee, Joel, Noah, and Ellis; and brothers, Jack (Betsy) and Bill (Jane).  A service to celebrate Carole’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Ardmore Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Salem Pregnancy Care Center, 1342 Westgate Center Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27103, salempregnancy.org.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Moore.
