Carol Hansen Whitaker

Mrs. Carol Marie Whitaker, age 71 went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Carol was born January 30, 1940 in Denver CO where she met Bruce Whitaker and they married on September 30, 1960. After Bruce retired from the United States Air Force in July of 1978, the family moved to Winston-Salem to be near Bruce's family. Carol was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. She enjoyed being a member of the Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir. Carol retired from Sara Lee Direct in 2001 and later worked at the Fulton Family YMCA. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Bruce M. Whitaker, one infant son, Patrick Whitaker. Her parents, Carol Harriet Beilhartz Hansen and Svend Walter Hansen. One sister, Marjorie Gail Hansen. Carol is survived by her children, Glen Whitaker and Kristine Whitaker, grand-daughter, Megan Elizabeth Whitaker and daughter-in-law Margie Pittman Whitaker. Two sisters; Mary Ann Hansen and Helene Harriet Hansen Pauley, Mother-in-law, Ada Lee Jester and her brother and sister-in-law, Albert Jester and Peggy Jester Castro and her cat Patches. Several nieces and nephews and lifelong friends Patricia and Harold Pittman. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall by Rev. Sidney Lanier. Burial will follow at Stanford United Methodist Church in Siloam, NC. The family will receive friends at Kingswood United Methodist Church Saturday, February 26th from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M.
