Carol 'Jo' Minick Westmoreland

Mrs. Carol ""Jo"" Minick Westmoreland, 75, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012. She was born February 17, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late Earl Breckenridge and Sarah Rose Minick. Mrs. Westmoreland worked as a crossing guard at Cityview Elementary School for a few years, Hanes Hosiery, and then worked and retired from Lucent Technologies with several years of service. She was a member of the Lucent Pioneers and Clemmons First Baptist Church where she enjoyed her time with the church's Quilt Ministry. Mrs. Westmoreland loved to quilt, sew, and cook. After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed traveling with her sisters and brothers-in-law. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ray Author ""Babe"" Westmoreland. Surviving are a son, Gregory Ray Westmoreland and wife Jo Ellen of Raleigh and a daughter, Tamara W. Piedmonte and husband John of Davidson; three grandchildren, Isabella, Johnny, and David Piedmonte; also surviving are three sisters, Mary Trexler and husband BC, Irene Dezern and husband Windell, and Norma Lowder; cousin, Jerry Henderson and wife Jean. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller-Kinderton Chapel in Advance, NC with Dr. Robert L. Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
