KERNERSVILLE - Carol Ann Idol Tucker, 79, passed away Friday morning, August 01, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 7, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Jack and Evelyn Idol. She was a faithful member of Union Cross Moravian Church. She was educated in Forsyth County Schools and graduated from Sedge Garden. She retired after forty five years as a fashion buyer for Thalhimers in Winston-Salem. As a lifelong resident of the Union Cross community, Carol lived her life to help others. She was a constant volunteer for businesses and services as well as anyone in need. She touched the hearts of many. Carol was a woman of strong faith and extremely active in her church. She was a charter member of the band, sang in the choir, a member of the Women's Fellowship, Sunday school teacher and Board Member. She also served as a board member at the Union Cross Fire Department. She was president of the Young At Heart Bowling league at Countryside Lanes until her health declined. She loved to travel, and spending time with her family at the beach. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining. Carol was happiest when helping countless neighbors, friends and relatives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Wyatt Tucker; and an infant son. Surviving are a daughter, Beth Tucker; a grandson, Tanner Boyles; a granddaughter, Amber Boyles; a sister, Barbara Sells and husband James; a cherished friend that was like a son, Rodney Longworth; many extended family members, friends, as well as her loving church family. A celebration of life service will be conducted 6:00 pm Monday, August 4, 2008 at Union Cross Moravian Church by Pastor Don Griffin and Ronnie Sisk. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Union Cross Moravian Church, 4295 High Point Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Five Points of Life, attention MaryKate Flynn, 4039 Newberry Rd., ainsville, Florida 32607, (a bicycle ride benefiting blood donor awareness.) The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Mildred Strupe, Carol's care givers and medical staff on the 8th floor West at Forsyth Medical Center, especially her buddy Anthony Footman.
