Carol Yvonnne Ford Shepherd, 69, of Lexington passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 5, 1940 in Forsyth County. She was the daughter of Jack and Rose Ring. Mrs. Shepherd was a loving Memaw to everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister; and two grandchildren. Surviving is her husband of 32 years, Charles M. Shepherd; four children, Mike Coleman and wife Susan of Jamestown, Deborah Coleman Matthews of Greensboro, Sandy Olivey and husband Kenny of Winston-Salem, and Beth Coleman of Lexington; her grandchildren, Yvonne Rorrer, Matthew and Kristen Fine, Andrea and Tabitha Williams, Ciji Olivey, Emily Tudor, Jory, Cynthia, Sally and Tina Coleman; great grandchildren, Zachary Tickle, Ethan and Haley Rorrer, Cole and Logan Wood, McKenzie and Tatum Bean. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3 at Grapevine Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Comer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 2 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will accept flowers, and memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004. The family would like to express special thanks to the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for their loving care.
