Carol Ann Monroe Mulcox, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at her home in Winston-Salem. Carol was born on March 9, 1940 in Manhattan, New York. She eventually moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she graduated from Reynolds High School and went on to achieve her bachelor’s degree from Salem College. She married her husband Fred on September 20, 1964 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Carol worked as a research historian for The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Old Salem, where she gave over 30 years of service. Her research at MESDA was very important to her and she was one of the rare people who could read and translate old English. Carol also enjoyed needlework and quilting. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen. Surviving family includes her loving husband of 57 years, Frederick P. Mulcox; two nieces, Rev. Maureen Howard (Michael) of Iowa and Sharon Daly (Peter) of Florida; and five great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, with Father Steven Rice officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service with family present.
