Carney Clay Black

Mr. Carney Clay Black, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 21, 1927 in Forsyth County to Estella Pope Black and Samuel Harrison Black. Mr. Black was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Black Tile with his brother until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Whitt Black; one sister, Colleen Ryan and three brothers, Sam Black, Jr., Bill Black and Ronda Black. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Black Tesh (husband Jimmy) of Lexington and Joyce Black Hooper of Lexington; three grandchildren, Brad Tesh (wife Amanda) of Winston-Salem, Adam Tesh (wife Jessie) of Raleigh and Heather Hooper of Lexington; one great grandson, Jaxson Tesh and one sister, Ruby Jean Proctor of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hochmuth and Rev. Ken Eller officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
