Mrs. Carmen Foster Brown, 67, of 4664 Styers Ferry Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27104, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 3, 1956, in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Harold and Irene Bell Foster. Carmen worked for many years in textiles and then became a teacher at Grace Christian Academy in Kings Mountain, NC. She really loved teaching preschool children. She was a member of Brookstown United Methodist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Robert Gordon Brown; daughter, Gabrielle Nichole Schmidt (Andy); two granddaughters, Kelsey Costner and Virginia Schmidt (Bryan Holman); three grandsons, Robert Costner, Dalton Costner (Catherine), and Noah Schmidt; great-grandson, Connor Costner; two great-granddaughters, Winter and Ivy Holman and a sister, Ginger Smith (Leon). A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Brookstown United Methodist Church, 6274 Yadkinville Rd, Pfafftown, NC, with Rev. James T. “Chip” Webb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
