Carlton Eugene Murphy

Mr. Carlton ""Carl"" Eugene Murphy, 71, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 after battling a serious illness. Carl was born on November 15, 1943 in Danville, Virginia to the late Vernon Eugene Murphy and Gladys Blanch Hopkins Murphy. He served in both the United States Air Force and United States Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. Carl worked as an electrician at both R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Miller Brewing Company where he made many friends. Carl was a dedicated, caring and wonderful father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching anything on Animal Planet. Mr. Murphy is survived by his loving wife Brenda Murphy, who never left his side for a moment during his illness. He is also survived by one daughter, Carla Murphy; a son, Patrick Murphy; and one brother, Doug Murphy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Paul Mullen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
