Carleton Russell Marr

Waterville, Maine-Carleton Russell Marr, 90, of Waterville, Maine, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 20, 2010. He was born in Winslow, Maine on August 11, 1919, the son of Arthur and Hattie (Decker) Marr. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Carleton married Charlene Hilda (Fuller) Marr on September 11, 1954. He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, traveling, and writing letters to missionaries. In later years he volunteered at Camp Good News and went on a missions trip to Ecuador. Carleton served the Lord faithfully, and was loved by many. He was a member of Albion Christian Church for many years serving as Sunday School teacher and deacon. Winters were spent in Winston-Salem, where he attended Salem Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, Hilda and daughter, Priscilla. Surviving are daughters, Maureen Newell and husband Danny of Fairfield, Maine and Doreen Marr of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service and visitation with the family will be held 7:00 PM Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Fellowship Hall of Salem Baptist Church, 429 S. Broad St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. A visitation will be held at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Fairfield, Maine on Friday, March 26 and a funeral service on Saturday. Donations in memory of Carleton Marr may be made to the Camper Scholarship of Camp Good News, 413 Campground Road, Livermore Falls, Maine 04254.
