Carl Jesse Robertson, Sr.

Mr. Carl Jesse Robertson, Sr., 94, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1917 in Winston-Salem, the son of the late, Coston Enoch and Bunah Mock Robertson. Mr. Robertson was a lifetime member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School and served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Hanes Knitwear following 40 years of service and was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years and the love of his life, Gladys Davis Robertson; his grandson, Ryan Darr Robertson; two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include one son, Carl J. ""Butch"" Robertson, Jr. and wife, Debbie of Trinity; one daughter, Dawn Robertson Fink and husband, Brian of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Carla Beth Metters and husband, Jason of Thomasville and Kaitlin Nicole Fink of Lewisville; one great grandson, Carter Ryan Metters; two sisters, Ruby Saylor and Helen Idol of Winston-Salem; one sister-in-law, Ruth Robertson of Rural Hall; and many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and caregivers. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
