Carl Wood Livengood, Sr.

Mr. Carl Wood Livengood, Sr., of Winston-Salem died December 14, 2009. He was born on September 7, 1920 to the late Walter Lee Livengood and Annie Wood Livengood. He was a graduate of Old Town High School and many banking classes. During his career, he worked for Greyhound Bus Lines and City National Bank (now Wachovia) and held numerous positions there until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1948. He was a charter member of Piedmont Civitan Club. Mr. Livengood was a member of Pfafftown Christian Church, the Christian Men's Fellowship, and the Lawson-Campbell Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Blakley Livengood; sisters, Estelle Beckner, Carrie Shields, Iretha Sowers and Nora Ketner; and one brother, Marvin Livengood. Surviving are daughters, Elaine (Craig) Bracken and Carol (Allen) Maine; a son, Carl (Kim) Livengood, Jr.; six grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters, Frankie Campbell and Louella Davis; brothers, Arthur (Gladys) Livengood, Raymond (Frances) Livengood and Francis (Ruth Anne) Livengood; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Reverend Bob Parvin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18 at Pfafftown Christian Church Cemetery.
