Carl Preston Freeman

Carl Preston Freeman, 85, of Kernersville, NC passed away asleep in his home, on February 11, 2017. Carl, or known by most as ""Papa"", was born in Forsyth County to the late Claude McClain and Myrtle Vaughn. He was drafted straight into the military and proudly served his country. He was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church of Kernersville.
Carl met the love of his life while driving a school bus, Laura Ann just happened to be one of his passengers. Carl married the love of his life, Laura Ann Nelson Freeman on May 11, 1951, they were married for 55 years. They lived a full, exciting, and loving life until her passing on February 5, 2007. They had two children; Deborah Ann Pitts and Rickie Carl Freeman; three grandsons, Michael Carl Freeman, Daniel Gray Pitts, and Dustin Carl Pitts; followed by three great granddaughters, Breonna, Kaylee, and Paisley Freeman.
A funeral service for Carl will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Greg Mullis officiating. Interment will follow at Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
