Carl Edward Flynn

Mr. Carl Edward Flynn, age 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born October 12, 1928 the son of Earnest Gray Flynn and Nonnie Scott Flynn. Mr. Flynn was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville where he served as a Deacon, served on the cemetery committee, and other numerous committees. He was actively devoted to serving his church and loved his church family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later retired from Bahnson-Flakt with 32 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Flynn was preceded in death by his son, Dale Edward Flynn in 1973; son-in-law, Michael Ingram; three sisters: Frances Merritt, Nancy Flynn and Ruth Shore; and one brother, Gray Flynn.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Ogburn Flynn; daughter, Denise Ingram; granddaughter, Tiffany Ingram; great-grandson, Ryden Michael Ingram; sister, Peggy Bennett; brother-in-law, Clarence Shore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23 at the church.
