Carl William Dresser

Mr. Carl William Dresser, 86, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Carl was born on July 14, 1928 in Northfield, MA to the late William and Marion Dresser. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Korean War and was retired from AT&T after 33 years of service. Carl was very active in volunteer foreign missions, and he delighted in serving his church and friends doing whatever was needed. He recently worked on adapting houses for use by soldiers for the Wounded Warrior Project. Carl was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and taught bible classes for 62 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dresser was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Helen Dresser; one brother, Alvin Dresser and four sisters, Gertrude Napolitano, Helen Long, Mary Martin, and Jane Kimball. Mr. Dresser is survived by his wife, Jo Dresser; one son, Nathanael Dresser; two daughters, Karen Dresser and Rebecca Dresser-Hege (John); one step-son, John Darnell (Alicia); two step-daughters, Kathryn and Nancy Darnell; dearly loved grandchildren, Gabriel Godwin, Corey Williams, Caleb Williams (Sarah), and Jesse Williams, Ted DeJong (Jennifer), Tiffany DeJong, Jon-David Ramsey, Ben Darnell, Jeremy Darnell, and Wendell Dresser; precious great-grandchildren, Skye DeJong and Donovan Taylor; and three brothers, Dick Dresser, Roger Dresser (Wanda) and Donald Dresser (Deanne). A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Chapman and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church lobby. Memorials may be made to the Kate B.
