Carey Lynn Roope, 42, passed away in the arms of her mother, Donna Wilson Macy, into the arms of Jesus on March 29th 2015, after a lengthy illness. She is a beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and cousin. Preceded in death by her longtime love Doulas Robinson and her maternal grandfather Kenneth Mertin Wilson as well as her sweet companion and Labrador Retriever, Noel. She is survived by her maternal grandmother, Joanne Wilson; mother Donna Wilson Macy and stepfather, Richard Ray Macy; sister Erin Macy Nelson, husband Elliott, and daughter Mabel; and sister Taylor Macy Nguyen, husband Chris, and son Max. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Georgia Roope; father Norris Lendal Roope and stepmother Barbara Muse Roope; sister Heather Roope Williams, husband Wesley, and children Olivia and Ben; sister Allison Roope Osborne, husband Blake, and daughters Gracie and Julia ""Peanut""; and sister Kayla Roope White, husband Albert, and daughters Natalee and Savanna. Carey will be most remembered for her generous heart and love of helping the elderly and less fortunate. Her greatest passion was protecting mistreated and abandoned animals. In lieu of flowers, the families request donations be made to Miller Street Dialysis Center or The Forsyth Humane Society. A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 9th, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The families would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Miller Street Dialysis who took such wonderful care of Carey. A special thank you to Dr. Anthony Bleyer who helped provide Carey with additional time to spend with her family; to Dr. Melanie Martin and Dr. Denizard Thompson who gave so much of themselves to Carey and stayed in touch with her until her last breath. And finally, we are grateful to the wonderful, loving nurses and physicians at North Tower, 8TH Floor in Baptist Hospital who became family to her.
