Mr. Carey Coleman Grigg, Sr., 77, of Winston-Salem passed away January 2, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Grigg was born in Appomattox, VA on May 30, 1932 to Julian A. and Nellie O. Coleman Grigg. Mr. Grigg was an Army Veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a true outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, and flying. Mr. Grigg had a passion for classic cars and could fix anything. He will be most remembered for his terrific sense of humor. Mr. Grigg was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward Grigg and Julian A. Grigg, Jr.. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann Grigg of the home; a daughter Karen White and husband Ronnie of Winston-Salem ; two sons, Carey C. Grigg, Jr. and wife Beatrice of Santa Fe, NM, and Scot Alan Grigg and wife Lynn, of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Kelly White Palmer and husband Seth, of Leland, Jennifer White, of Raleigh, Jason Alan Grigg, of Los Angeles, CA, and Ashley Elizabeth Grigg, of Williamsburg, VA; two step grandchildren, Johanna and Isaac Miller, of Winston-Salem; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Katie Palmer of Leland; one step great granddaughter, Kaia Ronquillo of Winston-Salem; a brother Thomas B. Grigg and wife Eleanor of Santa Ynez, CA; a sister-in-law, Nedra Grigg; a step-mother, Mary H. Grigg; and his best friend Don Hutchins. A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
