KERNERSVILLE-Captain Kirk McIntosh USMC retired, 58, a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Savior March 17, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1951 in Worcester, MA to John McIntosh and the late Dorothy Lundgren McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh was a member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax, and also the Wednesday Night Men's Fellowship. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed camping. But he especially loved family time. Kirk graduated from Worcester Jr. College, MA, and National University Summa Cum Laude, CA. He entered into the United States Marine Corps in 1971. He was the Executive Officer at Comm. Co., 4th FSSG Elmaco, I &I Greensboro, NC. He participated in Operations Desert Shield/Storm, while stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC. He retired September of 1992 with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Captain. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Kathryn Daigneault McIntosh of the home; his two sons, Kirk McIntosh, Jr. and wife Angela, Scot McIntosh and wife Andrea; a granddaughter, Abigail; his best friends, Sasha and Max; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, March 22, 2010 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church in Colfax with Pastor Sam White and Pastor Phil Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 119 North Bunker Hill Rd, Colfax, NC 27235.
