Capt. Bob Smith

Robert “Capt. Bob” Smith, 69, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at his home.  

Bob was born on December 9, 1953, in Guilford County, NC. He was the owner/operator of Tarheel Cars and Cycle for 28 years in Winston-Salem.  

Bob proudly obtained his Captains Six Pac Charter Boat licenses and his Open Water Diving licenses. He was owner, operator and  Captain of Lucky Chip, a charter boat in Hatteras, NC. He was an avid fisherman and was the winner of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in 1992. Bob was also a Loved and Respected Member of the Biker Brotherhood an lifelong lover and rider of Harley Davidson motorcycles.  

Most of all, Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Thorpe Smith and Eula Trivette Smith, and a host of friends.  

Surviving family includes his wife of 50 years, Patricia Smith; one son, Jeffrey Drew Smith (fiancée Kristine); Charlotte Brown (mother of ) two grandchildren, Haley Nicole Smith and Mathew Robert Smith; and two sisters, Hattie Ann Ervin (Ronnie) and Sandy Wilson (Tim) along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
