Cammie Gray Atkins

COLFAX-Cammie Gray Atkins, 99, went home to be with our heavenly Father on August 30, 2011. She was born March 1, 1912 to the late Levi Oscar and Gerr Gray. Cammie was the oldest living member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church where her grandfather was a charter member. She was employed with Albert Pick/Ramada Inn for over eighteen years. She also worked for Mojud, then as a homemaker, while her children were young. Cammie loved Jesus, her family, her church, bird watching, working outside in her flowers, and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Herman ""Sarge"" Atkins; two brothers: Jesse Gray, and infant Levi Oscar Gray; three sisters: Ellen Bell, Chloe McGee, and Virginia Arnold; two great-great-grandchildren: Emma and Josh McKinney. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Sylvia (Paul) Gray, Philip (Connie) Atkins, Sandra (Larry) Lamm, Kathleen (Charles) Thompson, and Bonnie (Carlyle) McKinney; her grandchildren: David Gray, Doug (Debbie) Little, Scott Lamm, Kevin Lamm, Drenda (Jerry) Stewart, Walter Atkins, Heather Marshall, Emily Atkins, Erin (Jeremy) Morgan, Chuck Thompson, Ryan (Amy) McKinney, Cammie (Charlie) Morris, Nick Ingram, and Joshua (Kelly) Marshall; great-grandchildren: Holly Little, Jerry (Beth) Stewart, Skylar Coleman, Colin Ball, Sophia Atkins, Rachel Morgan, and Caroline Morris; great-great-grandchildren: Aaron Mahoney, Daniel Little and Emma Stewart. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 2, 2011 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church, North Bunker Hill Rd, Colfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
