Mr. Calvin Clark Owens, 83, of Winston-Salem died Friday, February 13, 2009. He was born on November 27, 1925 in Randolph County to the late Robert Marvin and Mattie R. Spivey Owens. He was a member of Crews United Methodist Church and retired from Carolina Steel with 40 years of service. Mr. Owens served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Orvetta II in the South Pacific Theater. He is survived by a son Kim Owens and wife Charlene of Walkertown, a daughter Kara Rich and husband Eddie of Kernersville; three grandchildren Jessica Whitfield, and William and Samuel Owens; a brother James David Owens; two sisters Bernice Deal and Hazel Bell; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, February 16, 2009 at Crews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Crady officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
