Calvin Gray Hutchins

KERNERSVILLE-Calvin Gray Hutchins, 76, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1938 in Guilford Co., to Hazel Preston Hutchins and the late Edgar Leo Hutchins. Calvin was a member of Baux Mountain Baptist Church. He was a truck driver the majority of his life. He loved classic cars, car shows and traveling; which he traveled a lot with his family as they were growing up. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Avalee Pyrtle Hutchins and a granddaughter, Lori Hutchins. Surviving are his 96 year old mother, Hazel Preston Hutchins; three sons, Mark Hutchins, Bruce Hutchins and wife, Angie, Rodney Hutchins and wife, Mariel; two daughters, Betty Lemmons and Brenda Fulp and husband, Jimmy all of Kernersville; ten grandchildren, Leslie Lemmons, Jenny Campbell, Stephen Fulp, Krystal Davis, Dakota Hutchins, Matthew Hutchins, Meredith Hutchins Landreth, Alexia Hutchins, Leah Hutchins and Naomi Brito; five great-grandchildren, David and Gabe Campbell, Nolan Landreth, Ava and Naya Davis; two brothers, Eugene and Roy Hutchins; one sister, Rebecca Hutchins Tucker and his canine companion, Patches. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Kelly Billings officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the funeral home.
