Winston-Salem - Butch (Jasper W.) Clapp passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Butch was born in Alamance County on New Years Day, January 1, 1954. He was the son of the late Nell and Jack Clapp of Winston-Salem. Butch leaves behind many loved ones including his daughter, Bailey Jaylyn; his partner, Johnna Hewitt; his sisters, Bunny Cummings, Susan Clapp and Betsy Hamilton; and his nephew who was like his brother, Mike Gudger. Butch will be missed by his nieces, Katie Cowden, Alex Hamilton; his great nieces and nephews, as well as many good friends. Butch graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1972 and attended UNC at Charlotte. For many years, Butch worked with his dad and nephew at Jack Clapp Tire. A celebration of Butch's life will occur at Hayworth-Miller on Silas Creek Parkway Wednesday, November 3 from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Humane Society of Forsyth County, 61 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center for their care of Butch this last month.
