Mr. Burton Eugene Winfrey passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 2, 1924 in Forsyth County to the late Carl Lee Winfrey and Katie Rebecca Huffman Winfrey. Mr. Winfrey proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with over 30 years of service and was a member of Mizpah Moravian Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Winfrey was preceded in death by a son, David Burton Winfrey; and four brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Greer Winfrey; son, James L. Winfrey; daughter, Katherine W. Teague (Van); three grandchildren: Robert B. Winfrey (Andrea), William B. Teague, and Emily R. Teague (David Rayburn); and also, three sisters: Ruth W. Robertson, Mary W. Holder, and Carol W. Burnette.

A funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Mizpah Moravian Church with the Rt. Rev. Wayne Burkette and the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the burial in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
