Burton Thomas Boner Jr., 79, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, April 21, 2025.
He was born on September 30, 1945, to Blanche Mullican Boner and Burton Thomas Boner, Sr in Forsyth County.
Burton, or B.T. as he was known to many, graduated from Southwest High School, class of 1963, and retired from Bell South. He started working on cars in his late teens and worked as a mechanic at Ed Owens in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. He proudly served our county in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1965-1967 and served overseas during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Union Ridge United Methodist Church; but would occasionally attend Boyer’s Chapel Church of Christ with his best friend, and sister, Nancy.
In addition to his parents, Burton was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Hair Boner, and his sister Nancy Boner Parnell.
Surviving are his daughter Jennifer Shelton (Steve); son Brent T. Boner, and his grandchildren Owen and Ava Shelton. He will be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous father, grandfather, and friend.
He loved all things cars; especially muscle cars, VW Beetles and Buick Rivieras. During his retirement, you could find him either fishing, spoiling his grandchildren, cruising in his convertible through Clemmons, or wearing his favorite overalls and driving his antique tractor through Meadowbrook.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Union Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Tang officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
